The Third Iteration by

All Creations is an artist collaborative, founded by Matt Rink and Bland Hoke, who strive to integrate recycled materials to create impacting sculptures and environments. When they visited the Art Park last Fall, All Creations was seeking a space to exhibit the ongoing project utilizing 60 decommissioned lamp poles as sculptural material. This project is reused and redefined, leading to a greater degree of sensitivity in planning and production.

The Third Iteration is All Creations third design and installation using sixty decommissioned parking lot lamp poles composed of 20 independent tripods, each displaying a vibrant 15-foot tall flag. It spans over 800 feet in a curvaceous and expanding formation that graces the main entrance of the Art Park and creates a myriad of visual effects when passing through. They have created a sensational work of art, which provokes a sense of awe and inspiration for those that experience it.

The Lamp Pole Project   by Amber Blanding

I first met Matt & Bland when they were visiting the Art Park back in November of 2007 and they mentioned they were seeking a space to exhibit their ongoing project. There was already connection between us, we all attended Alfred University. I loved their artwork and that they used recycled materials to create such impacting sculpture. The layout of their work is so precise and takes alot of engineering to make it structurally sound. I wanted to create a memorial dedicated to my father who passed away in 2001, the time felt right. Their art reminded me of the work my father did at Niagara Mohawk. He started out as a lineman and eventually became an electrical planner for the company. He worked there for 28 years and also started his own business called New Line Concepts. He was an artist, great at drawing and mathematical building . Their sculpture reflected alot of what he did in his lifetime. I feel if he was still here today he would really dig what they are doing, maybe give a stab at it himself.

As a memorial to my father it represents alot to me. It reminds me that everyday is different and to cherish everyday because you never know when your time on earth will end. This sculpture changes from day to day. Sometimes the flags are whipping in the wind, sometimes they are stuck to the poles with rain; and throughout the day, when I drive or walk by, the sky behind it is always changing. As an artist, I am constantly creating and this project has become a work of art for me to admire daily. This memorial wasn’t something planned, it kind of just happened and without the contributions from the Blanding family and friends this sculpture wouldn't have been possible.  It just happened to be installed the day before Father's Day, perfect! The  dedication was held on August 24, 2008, with many family and friends in attendance. Thanks to all who helped along the way.
